There are a total of ten categories that are open for nomination by the public for the 2014 Working Moms Awards taking place on Saturday, December 6th 2014. Nominations are open from September 1st – October 30th 2014.

1Working Mom of the Year Award
The best working Mom Award honors a Nigeria working mom who has risen to the spotlight in her career whilst raising her children who are still in their formative and teenage years. They are known for their desire to mentor those around them and for their contributions to their own communities.
2Mom working in the Media
This category of award honours a moms who is working in the media community who have attained significant success in both family and career. These moms have been positive influences and strong role models at work, at home and in their communities. They thrive on their busy lives and have positively impacted other working mothers with their skills at striving for work life balance. These are the women that we turn to for breaking news and to illuminate the issues that matter to us and to our families.
New-to-Motherhood Moms are working mothers in the community whose oldest child is 0-5 years old. These women achieve balance in their lives and are strong role models for their associates at work and their children at home. While they are new to motherhood, they are successful working mothers who are striving to redefine Work Life balance through their innovative approach to careers and family.
4Best Organisation for Working Moms.
This award is given to the organisation that is known for employing not just women but married and nursing mothers. These Companies must have championed a flexible workplace for Mothers, granted generous maternity leave, provided working moms opportunities to advance or been instrumental in developing Child care programmes for employees.
This category highlights the accomplishments of women across the country who are founding and leading groundbreaking companies in industries ranging from technology to entertainment. These women must be good at home making too. First, the woman must be both an entrepreneurial innovator and someone who is building a major business—we take both the company’s mission and the amount of net revenue into account. Each woman must have at least one child in her household who is 16 years old or younger. The list illustrates how working moms are leading the charge and proving once again that necessity and innovation go hand in hand with mothers of invention.
6Bump up Mom
This award will honour a woman who has completely turned around a bad situation to a good situation despite all odds and is now helping others, from one way of thinking to an opposite way of thinking. A mom whose life threw a lemon but she made lemonade out of it. This is for moms who are changing the world—fighting for access to health care, quality education for all and saving the environment. Running a nonprofit organization certainly comes with unique challenges. It involves fundraising, community outreach, building a team that often counts teams of volunteers and efficiently using funds to help others. This is an award worth sponsoring. Sponsoring this award will mean changing lives.
There are an enormous number of women around the country running grass roots organizations and helping their communities, but the women on this list are at the helm of organizations with major budgets (some in the billions) with either a regional, national or global reach. We also included leaders in a range of categories—including education, environmental protection and cancer research—to highlight a broad spectrum of women in the nonprofit world. The women on this list also have at least one child who is 16 years old or younger at home and are therefore facing the daily demands of work life balance.
The Super Mom category honours an unskilled working mom who is in the vulnerable group but has defied the odds and stood the test of time. This Award focuses more on Moms in the lower strata of the society. They thrive in their semi-skilled and most times unskilled labour to raise and mold lives up to an enviable level. They are the unsung Heroines of our time. A support for this category will uplift a family.
The trailblazer is a mom who does, or discovers something new and makes it acceptable or popular, through teaching, mentoring, research and services. She has had a profound influence in the society and on the lives of thousands of new and intending mothers. She could be a mom who has written hit television shows; sold record number of books and redefining what it means to be famous today.This mom must make an indelible mark; have a certain ubiquity; and have, a large fan base and a laundry list of celebrated achievements. This mom defines an era. To be qualified for this category, such mum must be known to give quality time to her family.
9Mom in Banking & Finance
The world of banking is an area that has long been considered a male one but women are now occupying most banking sector including working mothers who have long been marginalized in a field that is time consuming, stressful and demands long hours of working. This award honours the mothers in the banking and financial sector, nominations are called for major power players, handling billions of naira and dollars in assets and staffs of thousands or are in a role of policy and decisions making process that shape the bank policies.
10Science and Tech Moms
Despite the myth that women aren’t interested in a career in science or engineering working mothers are running huge tech companies, building robots and teaching the next generation of women engineers.
